Dr. Steve North is a family physician and adolescent medicine specialist at the Bakersville Community Medical Clinic and his work on this project is supported by Blue Ridge Regional Hospital as part of the Jim Bernstein Community Health Leadership Fellowship.  “Being named a Jim Bernstein Fellow has allowed me to have some extra time to learn more and research more about telemedicine,” said North.

 

The fellowship program aims to develop future leaders to work in and improve the health of rural and underserved communities and populations in North Carolina.  The fellowships are individually tailored to work in concert with the fellow’s current work.  Fellows are paired with mentors and interact with healthcare workers and work with various state agencies, university programs, non profit organizations and innovative initiatives aimed at improving access to and quality of healthcare.
