Telemedicine Equipment Installed!!!

Today MPact Systems installed telemedicine equipment at Micaville Elementary School in Yancey County and Bowman and Harris Middle Schools in Mitchell County.

MY Health-e-Schools awarded $260,000 grant

Today we learned that we were awarded a $260,000 USDA-RUS Telemedicine and Distance Learning grant.  This grant provides a 2:1 match to the local foundation grant and our Appalachian Regional Commission grant we have received for the pilot network.

Right now we are focused on launching the pilot network in February, 2011.  Once this is accomplished we will begin the implementing the next phases of the network.

Mitchell County telemedicine demonstration

On Wednesday, December 9th we demonstrated the telemedicine equipment to principals and school nurses from Micaville Elementary School, Bowman Middle School, and Harris Middle School.  Administrators and networking specialists from both districts also attended.

NCSCHA Conference

We demonstrated our new equipment yesterday at the NCSCHA Annual Conference in Chapel Hill.  Lots of good interest from current and future school-based health center leaders.
